November 2010 HIMSS Virtual Conference & Expo:  Improving Health and Healthcare Through Meaningful Use of Health IT

The June 2010 HIMSS Virtual Conference & Expo attracted over 4,000 registrants consisting of CIOs, CMIOs, COOs, CEOs, directors and managers of information systems, physicians, nurses, students, and other healthcare IT professionals.  The HIMSS Virtual Conference & Expo is a fully interactive event that incorporates online learning, live chat, dynamic, real-time participant movement in and out of exhibit booths and education sessions, vendor presentations, contests and more. Because the virtual conference is 100 percent virtual, attendees experience the conference and expo from the comfort of their own desks!   


Improving Health and Healthcare Through Meaningful Use of Health IT
The November 2010 HIMSS Virtual Conference & Expo will focus on the many aspects and opportunities for achieving meaningful use in different care settings, including community hospitals and clinical practices. Additionally, through two tracks,  the educational program will highlight the innovative approaches, strategies, actions and awareness needed to transform healthcare. 

Track 1:  Health Information Exchanges: Facilitating the Adoption of HIT
This track will focus on aspects of the many challenges and opportunities HIEs face in operationalizing an exchange, and providers face in connecting with one or more HIEs.
 

Track 2:  The Fundamentals of Achieving Meaningful Use: Real World Approaches
This track will focus on the tactics organizations and eligible providers are executing to comply with MU requirements

2.  Once you are listed in the site as a user, you can submit a proposal, or edit an existing proposal.  You will be able to both submit and edit a proposal until the close of the call on Monday, August 2.  You can submit or edit your proposal here:

3.  There are three main parts of your proposal:

 
30 Word Abstract Summary-The goal of this part of your proposal is to sell your proposal to reviewers and potential conference attendees if your proposal is selected.  Please make sure this 30 word abstract summary effectively describes the main goal of your proposal.

500 Word Abstract Body-The goal of this part of your proposal is to describe in detail the information that you plan to present if your proposal is selected for the conference.  Be as specific as possible. 

3 Learning Objectives-The goal of this part of your proposal is to provide potential session attendees with actionable descriptions of what they will learn attending your session.  Your learning objectives should start with an active, observable and measurable verb (ex. Explore the benefits of CPOE implementation, Establish guidelines for clinician involvement)
