An advanced Investor Ready ™ workshop for investors, entrepreneurs and advisors
Content and Format for this all day advanced Investor Ready workshop? This workshop by the US Angel Capital Association with content provided by angel experts, is designed to be highly interactive for an audience of 40+ participants. It features an extensive live and video PowerPoint presentation followed by Q&A, case studies and a panel of local experts. The seminar is segmented with several opportunities to encourage networking between participants and the faculty, including refreshment breaks, a luncheon and networking at the end. This is not an introductory seminar or an academic course, but a real life workshop that usually is offered only to investors, not to entrepreneurs. Networking - Elevator Pitches: Attendees can at their option, participate in the Elevator Pitch contest and deliver a 30 second "infomercial" that describes their business and funding needs to attending investors. This is great for networking among attendees during during breaks and sandwich lunch. Please note that this workshop is offered in a "protected environment", without solicitations from service providers (except sponsors & speakers) and entrepreneurs and everyone is asked to immediately refer any solicitations of any kind to the host.
Who is the Faculty for this workshop? This workshop features experts in high growth ventures and early stage investing opportunities, including seasoned angel investors with diverse investment experience, tax and legal experts, and angel-financed entrepreneurs.

Our workshop leader is Robert Okabe, Founder of Prairie Angels and Managing Director of RPX Group in Chicago where he leads the firm’s efforts to assist universities, research institutions, and corporations create startups from their innovative technologies. RPX Group’s clients include the University of Chicago, Argonne National Laboratory, University of Illinois, University of Nebraska, venture capital firms, and S&P 500 companies. Other notable consulting clients include the World Bank, the OECD, and the Resolution Trust Corp.

An accomplished teacher, Bob has been a lead instructor for the Power of Angel Investing seminar series developed by the Kauffman Foundation since 2006 and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Angel Capital Education Foundation as chair of the Education Committee.
He has made a lucky thirteen investments in startups as an angel investor with one major liquidity event and three other positive returns of capital. Bob is often actively involved with his portfolio companies, having served on advisory boards, management teams, and boards of directors. |

Bob's corporate career includes twelve years in corporate finance and capital markets, participating in dozens of debt, equity, M&A, and advisory assignments while a Managing Director and group head at BancAmerica Robertson Stephens, a Senior Vice President at Lehman Brothers and a Vice President at Kidder, Peabody & Co. Bob began his business career spending nearly six years in financial management at General Electric. After leaving GE, he was a senior bond analyst for Moody’s Investors Service for two years. Bob Okabe was awarded his Bachelor of Science in Finance and Organizational Behavior from Boston University’s School of Management.
Workshop book for each attendee: A 300+ page customized workbook has been developed with copies of all presentations, substantial background reading materials, a comprehensive glossary, bios on each faculty member and a profile of each sponsor.
