Basil Peters: http://www.BasilPeters.com/ - Dr. Peters has been a CEO in Vancouver and in Silicon Valley. The company he founded in grad school, Nexus Engineering, grew to be the second largest manufacturer of cable television headends in the world. Since Nexus was sold, Basil has founded, and run portfolios for a hedge fund, venture capital fund and angel fund. He is passionate about entrepreneurship and believes the world would be a better place if more young people decided to be entrepreneurs. Basil has received the Entrepreneur of the Year award, Canada Awards Silver Medal in Entrepreneurship, BC Science and Engineering Gold Medal and Business Leader of the Year awards.

At the Angel Forum, usually 20+ pre-screened companies seeking equity funding up to $1 million, deliver "live" presentations to 50+ pre-screened investors. Since 1998, it has offered Investor Ready™ workshops for entrepreneurs and investors.

 

Networking: All attendees are asked to stand-up and introduce themselves in 20 seconds (suggested content could include the name of a company that you are an investor in or founder of and a one key Exit issue you want to learn about). This is great for networking among attendees.

This is an 8 hour serious workshop (not a 1 hour overview) with a 150+ page Workbook. Space is limited and is on a first come basis before February 24 (our workbook printing deadline). The registration fee for this full-day, all-inclusive workshop includes the Early Exits book, the Workbook, coffee and muffins at check-in, mid morning coffee; sandwich lunch in the workshop room and mid afternoon refreshments. At the 2011 workshop, 12% of attendees thought the workshop fee below was a bargain and 86% thought it was fair.

  • Seating is limited and is on a first completed registration basis. There is no on-site registration.

  • No refund or credit within 60 days of the event date, but another person may attend in your place.

Who were the leading acquirers of Canadian technology companies over past 4 years?   Google (5), RIM (5), Microsoft (3), Transcontinental (3), Intel (2), and Salesforce (2) according to Techvibes comprehensive list of 69 Canadian Tech Acquisitions (16 were from BC).
