Description:

This two-day experience will provide the therapist information, insight, and experience in using sandtray therapy in a variety of settings and with various types of clients.

The first day will begin with an exploration of integrating sandtray therapy to one’s current practice of play therapy, including theory, and client conceptualization. How sandtray therapy works, including the brain connection, will be articulated. Next, a protocol for conducting and documenting sessions will be experienced. Participants will increase their knowledge of how to make meaning of the sandtray creations including the use of sand, symbols and metaphors. The advantages of sandtray work with adolescents and adults will be discussed.

During our second day together we will cover issues related to working with groups of all ages and the use of sandtray in family experiences.
Finally, we will focus on ways to expand your supervision with the use of sandtray. A summary of the last decade of sandtray therapy research will be included. Throughout the two days experiential activities will provide personal insight into professional use of sandtray therapy. Come to learn, come to experience, come to enjoy, come to play.
