Tamara Palmer Seiler

Tamara Palmer Seiler is Professor Emeritus (Canadian Studies) in the
Department of Communication and Culture at the University of Calgary.
Although she has spent her adult life in Canada, she was born and raised in the United States, where she studied American literature.  She holds an M.A. (York University, and a PhD  (University of Alberta) in Canadian Literature.  Her academic interests include narratives about immigrant experience, as well as North American cultural history and the West in North America. She has written a number of articles on fiction by ethnic minority writers in Canada, and is the co-author/co-editor of three books on Alberta history and culture, as well as author/co-author of a number of articles on these topics. Active in several national scholarly
organizations, she served as President of the Canadian Ethnic Studies Association from 2001-2005.
